Danny's new debut solo album is finally here! 9 Danny penned originals about "love lost, lust, livin', dyin', the bad parts of town and the troubles that can be found there" is a lyrical peek into his personal life. Hard driving Americana/Folk/Rock/Blues powered by a hand picked all~star band including good friends such as former Allman Brothers Band monster keyboardist and hit songwriter Johnny Neel on the Big Bad Hammond B-3, acoustic and electric pianos and that demonic harmonica. Danny's good friend and also an Allman Brothers alumnus Jack Pearson stops by for some delta slide resonator blues on "My Baby Thinks I'm Great". Longtime Carter Brothers bassist Ross Sermons rides that low end brilliantly as ever. Nashville session whiz and a regular at the Bros TreeHouse Studio Dann Sherrill on drums and percussion. Let's not forget the ladies, the soul drippin' gospel blues drenched back-up vocals of Tanya Dennis and Jess Tardy are a huge part of this CD. Last but not least is brother Tim Carter on banjo, mandolin and acoustic guitar on several tracks. Tim also engineered and co-produced this phenomenal project as well.

Danny pulls off his raspy, soaring and heartfelt southern soulman vocals as well as ever. He also pulls out his full arsenal of guitars for this, his debut solo album. A very powerful 'gospely, bluesy, bluegrassy' project recorded 'live' in the chapel of a an old church (circa 1811) in Lillington, NC. Featuring Tim and Danny Carter, The Tashians (Barry and Holly), The Gordons (Gary and Roberta) and many more talented artists from Nashville, North Carolina and other parts of the USA. Longtime Carter Brothers bassist Ross Sermons invisioned and concieved the project which took place over 6 days in November 2004. Danny composed, sang and played guitar on the title track "We Got Work To Do". He also sang and played guitar on "Wade In the Water". Tim sang and played banjo on "Fly Away Home"...Danny plays guitar and sings backup. Both Tim and Danny show up on other tracks as well.

From 1985 to 1993 Tim and Danny Carter along with drummer "Stormin'" Norman Allred, bassist Mark Vernon and rhythm guitarist/vocalist Johnny Green toured together as the Carter Brothers Band. Averaging around 225 shows a year they traveled from North Carolina to New York City, from Western Canada to Key West, Florida and points between as well as Europe. They were particularly well known for their unique 4-5 part harmonies not to mention their groundbreaking bluegrass/rock sound. You will hear a lot more of Dannys amped~up electric 6 and 12 string guitar playing(along with some acoustic flatpicking) here. Danny and Johnny share lead vocal duties just as they did in the past. This version of the CBB recorded only one album in their 8 year existence which was released in Europe in 1989.
Although they disbanded in 1993 they remain very close friends and still get together a few times a year to play shows locally in North Carolina..."REACH" is a collection of what are considered Carter Bros. favorites from that era along with a couple of newer tunes just to keep things spicy!
The album was recorded 'almost live' in the summer of 2004 at the Bros "TreeHouse" studio at their home in Nashville....Hope you enjoy!

Consider the first song on their 2000 release, CedarHouse: It opens with an accordian lick and kicks off with a verse about how damn bad their bathroom smells. Its unexpected, almost startling, but its not a novelty. Both the squeezebox and the lyric serve the song, and that song, "Shelby Street", is the best on CedarHouse, itself a good album.
